| Since most European martial traditions were lost as firearms became dominant, HEMA involves interpreting historical sources to reconstruct these arts. We rely on translations, context, and experimentation to revive techniques. |

Landvættamót – Quarterly Tournament
The Reykjavik HEMA club runs and internal quarterly tournament to promote training for competitions and also to train our members in staffing tournaments.
The first tournament was Dragon in the summer of 2024. Each season is based on a creature. This is commonly used in Iceland to denote the seasons.
